A chaise longue made inspired by artist Tómas Saraceno and a desire to find a new way to use moulded wood.
The honeycomb structure has been long known for its high strength and low weight. In Chaise Hexagone, the honeycomb had been translated in to a three dimensional pattern of moulded wood hexagons. Changing the size of the hexagonal units added an extra dimension of complexity by forcing an intertwining of the units which no longer simply tessellate. Using wood moulding techniques to build the hexagonal structure is an additive manufacturing technique.
The chaise features upholstered inserts for customizable cushioning.
Chaise Hexagone is a chair that presents the beauty and strength of moulded wood. It invites you to lie in a lightweight structure of improbably moulded wood and dream, weightless dreams.
